Exciting minicamp

Would you like to go on a mini camp where your group has access to both the seal farm at the North Sea Oceanarium and the beach and forest nearby?

With the North Sea School Service's ‘Sleep with the Seals’ offer, your children will experience the North Sea's wildlife and the Oceanarium in a new and exciting way. In addition to having fun and enjoying themselves, the children will also learn a lot about seals. At the end of the day, it's time to settle down in our shelters next to our scenic Emmersbækken stream. The second day ends with us saying goodbye to each other on the platform by the seal pool.

It is possible to purchase additional activities – for example, combine your overnight stay with a course on whales in the ‘Whale Researcher's Hut’ or rent equipment for fishing in Emmersbækken or fishing in shallow water at the nearby Kjul beach, where you can also go amber hunting. Lilleheden Klitplantage is also nearby, where you could go night running, for example.

Practical information

Arrival and departure times must be agreed in advance. It is possible to arrange activities other than those mentioned. This must be agreed in advance.

Season: May-June + late August-September

Prices: DKK 250 per child - admission is included in the price - adult leaders free of charge

The North Sea Oceanarium will provide:

The event will be held in accordance with the programme
Access to toilet facilities, storage room and refrigerator.
Fire pit and firewood or 2 portable barbecues
A guide at the Oceanarium throughout the event.

Leaders/parents are responsible for:

The children's participation in the programme.
The children's well-being and behaviour.
That no one (including adults) drinks alcohol during the event.
That the participant form is completed and handed in on arrival.
That consideration is given to the seals and plants.
Being careful with open flames.
Bringing food and equipment for cooking and overnight stays.

Bring: Toiletries, sleeping bag, sleeping mat, torch. You are welcome to bring cake and sweets for fun – sweets can be purchased by arrangement.

Day 1

Possibly at 15.30 p.m.: Arrival and welcome

Upon arrival, please wait before unpacking, as we will show you where to drive your cars to unload your luggage. You are welcome to arrive earlier and visit the exhibitions – the programme starts at 4 p.m. – unless otherwise agreed. We have a locked room where your luggage can be stored.

Please let us know if your children are allowed to shop in the souvenir shop. In that case, you must arrive before 3.30 p.m. and shopping must be completed before normal closing time.

Introduction to the North Sea at the grandstand

The children can explore the seal farm with its playground, seals and whale research hut on their own.

(Adults will be instructed in fire safety and similar matters, and shown the toilet facilities, storage room and refrigerator).

Dinner

You are responsible for your own dinner, unless otherwise agreed.

There is a campfire site by the shelters. The North Sea provides firewood.

Option for evening activities

Seal activity (included in the price) – preparation of activation topics and activation of the seals together with the guide.

It is possible to purchase additional activities – for example, combine your stay with a course on whales in the ‘Whale Researcher's Cabin’.

By arrangement, you can gain access to the nearby beach: Kjul Strand and forest: Lilleheden Klitplantage. Here you can, for example, hunt for amber on the beach or go night running in the forest.

Day 2

Upon agreed time: Wake-up call, breakfast and packing

You must tidy up and put your luggage in storage before opening hours.

8.15: End of visit at the seal pool

Goodbye and thank you for coming!

Afterwards, you are welcome to stay as long as you like (within normal opening hours).
