A Full Year at the Largest Aquarium in Northern Europe

In addition to the exciting wildlife in our aquariums, there is of course a lot going on throughout the year.

Here you can see an overview of some of the different activities and events taking place this year.

Winter theme: Zoolympics february 7 - march 15

Welcome to the Zoolympic Games – where young and old alike can compete against the champions of the sea!

Try your hand at the sea slug's impressive jump and test your eyesight as you search for the Olympic logos in the aquariums. Marvel at who actually has the world's biggest eyes and feel your body working as you try to walk like a crab.

Are you as fast as the animals of the North Sea – maybe even a herring? Together with your family, you can find out who has the biggest teeth in the North Sea and who in the whole world can boast the biggest brain.

Finally, you can try to shoot as far as a blue whale's powerful blow and test whether you are as strong as a lobster. With a scorecard in hand, you can compete against your family and take up the challenge – let the Zoolympic Games begin!

Spring theme: Eggs and young march 28 - may 31

It's spring! And love is blossoming in the aquariums.

Several fish species begin their reproduction in the spring, so we will be taking a closer look at eggs and fry, among other things.

We are transforming our Backstage area into a small fish nursery and filling the small aquariums with lots of exciting young fish and eggs.

Summer theme: The sea's pantry june 20 - september 13

Autumn theme: Superheroes of the sea september 26 - november 15

This autumn, you can learn more about how humans have exploited the “superpowers” of sea creatures to create innovative inventions throughout history.

Did you know, for example, that the shape of the torpedo was inspired by the streamlined shape of fish? Or that shark skin has been used as sandpaper throughout history?

Behind the scenes at the North Sea december 28

Join us when we invite you behind the scenes at the North Sea on 28 December – on this day, you can find out where the more than 4.5 million litres of seawater in our aquariums come from and take a closer look at what the North Sea Oceanarium does for nature. We will take you behind the scenes, where the doors are normally closed to visitors.
