Good to know when you want to visit us

Here, you can find answers to some of the questions that might appear when you plan to pay us a visit.

We still take care of you and our staff

Cleaning
We have extra staff to make sure everything is clean during the day. All surfaces are cleaned regularly during the day.

General
There is still a large amount of disinfecant placed around the exhibition, making it possible to always maintain a good hand hygiene.

We recommend that you keep your distance to other guests and staff during your visit.

If you experience symptoms, we kindly ask you to stay home, for the sake of the other guests and the staff.

Staff
All staff respect the current restrictions and guidelines. If members of the staff experience symptoms, they are instructed to stay home. All staff are encouraged to be tested regularly and only clock-in with a valid Coronapas.

Smoking

The North Sea Oceanarium is a 'no smoking' attraction - both indoors and outdoors. If you need to smoke before or during your visit, it has to be done in the designated areas by the parking lot. Naturally you are more than welcome to go there during your visit - just remember your entry ticket, since you have to scan it by the entrance to get back in.

Parking

We have a large parking area near the entrance. Parking is free.

Dogs

Dogs are not allowed at Nordsøen Oceanarium (The North Sea Oceanarium).
However, you are welcome to use our dog-friendly parking space.  Here, your dog can be in the shade while you visit the North Sea Oceanarium.
You will find the parking for dogs at the end of the large parking area to the left of the entrance.

Wheelchairs and push-chairs

We have a limited number of wheelchairs and push-chairs that our visitors can borrow for free.

Baby-changing facilities

Several of our restrooms have changing tables. You can also easily find quiet areas if you need to nurse.

Picnic

Outside, we have several picnic areas where you can enjoy your packed lunches. We also have sheltered areas in case of rain. Inside, you can also enjoy your lunch in the seabed room. During the off-season, we invite you to eat your lunch in our café.

Cloakroom

The cloakroom is in the basement near the Hirtshals Pier aquarium. Use of the cloakroom is at  your own risk but for a deposit of 20 DKK you can use one of our lockers.

Defibrillator

We have a defibrillator available to our visitors. The defibrillator is situated on the wall just right of the large oceanarium window. Our staff is always happy to help in case of an emergency.

Access for disabled

All of the North Sea Oceanarium is accessible for disabled visitors. We have several lifts and restroom facilities for the disabled and there are special parking booths for disabled near the entrance. A disabled visitor pays the same entry fee as everyone else but if you need a carer, he or she gets in for free.
